Cisco Fiber Optic Module GLC-BX-U:
The Cisco Fiber Optic Module GLC-BX-U is a 1 Gigabit Bi‑Directional (BiDi) SFP transceiver that enables duplex signaling over a single strand of single‑mode fiber (SMF). It operates as the “U” (upstream) side of a paired link transmitting at 1310 nm and receiving at 1490 nm and must be paired with a GLC-BX-D (downstream) module to complete the connection.
Designed for 1000BASE‑BX10 applications, this compact, hot-pluggable SFP supports up to 1.25 Gbps data rates and provides reliable network performance across distances of up to 10 km over SMF.
The GLC-BX-U module uses the 1000BASE-BX10 standard, which provides an effective data transfer rate of 1.0 Gbpsfor actual payload. However, due to encoding and signaling overhead, the total physical line rate reaches 1.25 Gbps.
-
Line Rate (Physical Transmission Rate): 1.25 Gbps
-
Payload Data Rate (Effective Data Throughput): Approximately 1.0 Gbps
It features the industry-standard SFP MSA SFF‑8472, including Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) capabilities to monitor optical power, temperature, and module health.
Operating in standard commercial environments (0 °C to 70 °C) and fitted with an LC simplex connector, the GLC‑BX‑U is a direct OEM Cisco product, fully compatible with cisco switches, routers, and other networking hardware.
This module designed by Cisco company and you can buy it in network equipment market with 1-year Atech warranty. If you want to know more about network module specially cisco fiber optical module, you can contact us.

The Cisco GLC-LH-SM is a Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver module designed for Gigabit Ethernet applications. It operates at a wavelength of 1310 nm and supports data rates of 1Gbps over single-mode fiber (SMF) for distances up to 10 km, making it suitable for long-distance connections such as building-to-building or data center links.
Cisco Fiber Optic Module X2-10G-LR
The Cisco fiber optic module X2-10G-LR is a hot-pluggable 10 Gigabit Ethernet optical transceiver module designed for long-distance fiber optic communication. It uses the X2 form factor, which is an older, larger standard compared to modern SFP+ optics.
Cisco Fiber Optic Module X2-10GB-SR
The Cisco X2-10GB-SR is an optical transceiver module designed to provide 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over short distances using multimode fiber (MMF). It is built on the X2 form factor, which was widely used in earlier generations of Cisco hardware for 10GbE connections. Compared to newer form factors like SFP+, the X2 module is physically larger and consumes more power, but it remains an essential component for organizations maintaining legacy Cisco networking equipment.
